Principal's Message

It is an honor and privilege that I welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year at U. S. Jones Elementary.  I am forever grateful for the opportunity to serve as the principal of such a wonderful and historic school.  Our mission is to ensure that students are safe, loved, and provided opportunities to develop academically, socially, and emotionally.  Our theme is this year is Quest for Excellence! Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day!  We have an outstanding school that has a focus of providing students with a meaningful and quality curriculum in order to generate lifelong learners.   Thank you for exploring our website.  It is designed to serve as a resource for our students, staff, parents, as well as the community. It shall provide you with updated information concerning U. S. Jones. You are encouraged to also utilize our social media sites (Facebook and Twitter) for important information as well.

I would like to provide you with information about my journey to U. S. Jones.  I am entering my 30th year in Education.  I have been a special education teacher, a general education teacher, a guidance counselor, and an assistant principal. I have taught K-12 grade levels, with my last 8 years at an intermediate school.  I am a proud alumni of Livingston University (known now as The University of West Alabama). Go Tigers!  I am married and my husband and I  have four children, with two grandsons and one granddaughter.

As the leader of U. S. Jones, I encourage you to come by our school and see firsthand the excellent learning strategies that are being taught.  I am looking forward to building life-long community relationships with each of you. It is important that our children see us working together for their benefit.   Please join our U. S. Jones Squad!  I strongly believe in having an open door policy, therefore,  please feel free to call or come by and voice any concerns and/or give a praise report.

Yours in Love, Learning, and Leadership,

Bridgett S. Powell
