New Superintendent

   In a called meeting on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 10:30 a.m., the Demopolis City School System Board of Education unanimously named Mr. Tony Willis as the new Superintendent of Education. Mr. Willis’s background in education includes serving as a science teacher, coach, athletics director, assistant principal, elementary principal, and high school principal. He currently serves as the Supervisor of Accountability and Special Programs for the Decatur City School System.

   Mr. Willis has a bachelor’s degree in Science Education from the University of North Alabama, a master’s degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of Alabama, and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree through Marshall University. He is also a Google Certified Educator.

   Mr. Willis is married and has three children, Annie, Mary, and Landon. He serves as an elder at the Chisholm Hills Church of Christ. He has worked overseas missions in Peru and Nicaragua.

   The members of the Demopolis City School System Board of Education is excited to have Mr. Tony Willis lead the school system. He will officially begin as Superintendent of Education on June 1, 2021.
